The Beat Cancer Page Blog
06.28.2006 - 14:16hConverting to free useI'm converting this site to be for "free" use, and have refunded the all the money received so far so people can donate directlly to the charities of their choice.
02.01.2006 - 10:01hFirst Month ReviewAlthough we had some good feedback about the site and a few early purchases, most of this first month has been quiet.
There was press release about the site which was wonderful to see. It also has been indexed by Google, so when you search on "pixel cancer" our site comes up right near the top.
I hope that as word of mouth spreads, more will take advantage of our site. We are telling our friends and family, but we need our site easily found by all the other people out there affected by cancer.
01.16.2006 - 12:11hMarketing vs. SPAM?I just sent off a short note announcing this web site to friends, family, and colleagues to let them know about the site and to "spread the word." After I sent it, I realized how much it was like SPAM--the very same kind of SPAM that I all too often delete. The fact that this e-mail was targeted to people I know and who know me is my only mitigating factor. To those that were offended, I apologize. And I promise not to send any more "mass mailings" except to those that asked to be on my newsletter, and that will probably only be sent infrequently, around every two months or so.
01.14.2006 - 16:54hLAUNCHED!Today, we finally launched the web site after a week of minor changes and adjustments. I'm starting the "marketing" campaign by notifiying my friends
and family, as well as getting the site submitted to search engines.
We'll have to contact some cancer-related businesses to win some of their advertising money, get them to link to us, and spread the word. We expect it to be slow going at first, but as more people find out about us, we hope that there will be a "snowball" effect.
01.04.2006 - 21:51hBeat Cancer Page Official Launch coming soon!In preparing to launch this site, my wife and I have worked very hard to get everything ready. As we finally do launch this site, we know that there will be glitches and inevitable updates & changes, but we feel that it is important to get this site up as soon as possible to start raising money for Cancer research. We solicit your suggestions as well as your prayers and good wishes. We also encourage you to spread the word about this fundraising effort so that we all might be closer to a cure.
Please feel free to share this site with your friends, family, and colleagues.
